Setting up the PDF.ai Chatbot
Before you start, it’s important to note that this is an additional paid plan available exclusively for Ultimate users and above.
Every eligible user has 20 free credits available each month, which are included with their subscription.
You will have the option to buy credits depending on the number of responses, requests, and file uploads that you want to use during a given month and the type of GPT model that you select.
Now let’s get started to set up your chatbot!
As promised, you don’t have to write a single line of code.
All you have to do is:
- Log into your PDF.ai account and click on your profile icon (at the top-right corner of the profile). A menu will then appear.

- Click the Chatbot tab.

- Then click the settings tab and add the site where your PDF files are hosted.

- Click the copy button to get the code snippet.
- Paste the code into the head section of your site.
- You're done!
When a user lands on a PDF and wants to chat with our chatbot, the document is automatically uploaded to our server and processed.
The user can then ask the chatbot any questions about the PDF.
Use Gpt-4o to chat with your PDFs
The Settings tab inside of the Chatbot section also gives you the option to select which GPT model you want to use on your chatbot widget.
You can choose from the following options:
- Gpt-4o (this is OpenAI’s latest flagship model)
- Gpt-4-turbo
- Gpt-3.5-turbo

Benefit from your chat logs
For your benefit, we keep a record of the questions that your users ask to the chatbot and the responses it gives them.
This information can be very helpful for things like:
- Improving customer support
- Understanding sales trends
- Product and processes improvement
- Improving school and training materials
You can access the chat logs on the Chatbot tab under “Chat Logs.”
PDF.ai chatbot analytics are available, too
Analytics are also a great add-on to the chat logs, and they are available on the dashboard.
This data will enhance your internal metrics experience by providing indicators such as daily session and message counts, document lists, visitor countries, and a world heatmap.

You will be able to use those analytics for purposes as varied as the ones described in the previous section.
